Throughout this course, we’ll unravel the mysteries of biological systems at the molecular level, examining the fundamental building blocks of life and their functions. From DNA to protein, we’ll explore the techniques and methodologies used in laboratories worldwide, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the tools that drive modern biological research.
By the end of this course, you’ll not only have a comprehensive understanding of molecular biology experimentation but also the skills and knowledge to engage in cutting-edge research and contribute to the dynamic field of applied biology.

This course will comprise several modules which will be covered on a weekly basis.
Course Duration: 1 Month
Eligibility:- Under Graduate, Graduate and Post Graduate
Mode of Instruction: English and Hindi

Week 1 - Module 1:
Chapter 1: A brief Introduction and history of Molecular Biology.
Chapter 2: Course Induction and fundamental guidelines of Good laboratory practices in Molecular Biology (GLP).
Chapter 3: Instrumentation and methodology.
Chapter 4: Experimentation-
(i) Mastering Solution Preparation: Normal, Molar, and Standard Solutions, Phosphate Buffers, and Serial Dilutions
(ii) Exploring Precision and Accuracy: Hands-On Micropipette Training.

Week 2 - Module 2:
Chapter 1: Central Dogma of Molecular Biology
- DNA structure and replication
- RNA transcription.
Chapter 2: Unraveling Nucleic Acids: Theoretical Foundations of DNA and RNA Isolation from bacterial and mammalian cells.
Chapter 3: Experimentation-
(i) Isolation Mastery: DNA and RNA Extraction from Bacterial and Mammalian Cells
(ii) Quantification Precision: Spectrophotometry in DNA and RNA Analysis.
Chapter 4: Experimentation-
Visualizing Genetic Materials: Understanding and hands-on mastery of Agarose Gel Electrophoresis.

Week 3 - Module 3:
Chapter 1: From Code to Creation: Briefly exploring Translation and Protein Structures.
Chapter 2: Theoretical Foundations of extraction from Mammalian Cells with RIPA Lysis and quantification using BCA, Bradford and Lowry’s method.
Chapter 3: Experimentation-
Isolation Mastery:
(i) Protein Extraction from Mammalian Cells and quantification using BCA, Bradford and Lowry’s method
(ii) Standard Curve Estimation: Protein Quantification and Analysis Strategies.
Chapter 4: Visualizing Proteins: SDS Gel Electrophoresis and Coomassie Staining Techniques.

Week 4 - Module 4 (Booster Week: Molecular Biology + Bioinformatics):
Chapter 1:
(i) A brief Introduction and history of Polymerase Chain reaction (PCR).
(ii) “PCR Essentials: Techniques and Applications in Genetic Analysis”
Chapter 2:
(i) A tour to Biological Databases such as National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), Ensembl etc and exploring them for nucleic acid sequence retrieval
Chapter 3: Experimentation –
Hands-on training on gene specific primer designing using NCBI database and Primer Blast.
Chapter 4:
DNA amplification using Gene-Targeted PCR & Gel Visualization using agarose gel electrophoresis.
